PBA: Jimmy Alapag announces retirement



Former PBA MVP and Gilas hero Jimmy Alapag announced his retirement Friday, ahead of Game 2 of the Philippine Cup finals.

Alapag was picked tenth overall by Talk n' Text in 2003, before earning Rookie of the Year honors. He was a nine-time PBA All-Star, and a six-time PBA champion, winning four Philippine Cup trophies, a Commissioner's Cup crown, and an All-Filipino Cup title.

The 37-year-old will remain with Talk n' Text as the new team manager. He will also serve as an assistant coach for the national team. - RAF, GMA News
