PBA: Talk 'N Text coach Jong Uichico hints at officiating issues when playing San Miguel
Head coach Jong Uichico hinted on officiating issues following Talk 'N Text's 87-81 defeat in the hands of San Miguel Beer on Sunday.
The Tropang Texters, who lost Game 1 by a huge blowout, came back stronger in the second game of the best-of-seven semifinals series but fell short in the hard-fought match.
"I think we played a lot better than the last game. I thought we defended pretty well. We just didn't score enough points," Uichico told reporters after the game.
The team, however, clearly have other concerns as they were whistled for 27 fouls, 10 of which were against SMB center June Mar Fajardo who went for 11-of-11 in charities.
"Let's just hope that the refs do a better job," Uichico said, admitting that he was disappointed with the calls. He added, however, he expected that kind of officiating when playing an SMC team.
"It's a given when you're playing the San Miguel Corporation," he said. "I've been there."
Uichico formerly held coaching duties for the SMC, coaching San Miguel and Barangay Ginebra from 1999 to 2012.
Talk 'N Text, the flagship basketball team of the Manuel V. Pangilinan Group, is now facing a 0-2 disadvantage.
"Alam naman natin na yes it's difficult but anything is possible," the coach said. "They know naman it's possible but it's not easy.
"It's always a must-win game," he added. "At this point everything is a must-win." — RAF/JST, GMA News
