Sigh of relief for Gilas Pilipinas as 'no structural damage' in Jayson Castro injury
The Gilas Pilipinas national team could now breathe a sigh of relief after "no structural damage" was found in Jayson Castro's foot, even as the star guard remained day-to-day because of the injury.
Gilas assistant coach Josh Reyes provided the update in an Instagram photo showing Castro in a walking boot to protect his Achilles tendon injury.
"For all those who are asking. MRI revealed no structural damage. Whew! Still swelling in his Achilles, though. Jayson's status is day-to-day. Paul lee is the same status. #parasabayan #gilaspilipinas #prayforgoodhealth" Reyes wrote.
Castro suffered the injury in a 75-66 defeat to Euskadi-Basque on Tuesday.
The Talk 'N Text guard is considered one of the most important players on the team because of his quickness and scoring ability. Last year, he was named to the First Five in the FIBA Asia Championship after helping the Philippines to a silver medal finish. — JST, GMA News
