PBA: Ginebra acquires Emman Monfort, sends Barako Rob Labagala

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel bolstered their backcourt with the acquisition of second-year point guard Emman Monfort, sending Barako Bull Energy Cola third-stringer Rob Labagala, with the PBA approving the deal, Thursday, via their official Twitter account.

Monfort, the 16th overall pick in the 2012 PBA Draft out of Ateneo de Manila University, played in just 12 games due to various injuries, but when he was on the court, he showed that he could run a team like a veteran, norming 9.08 points, 2.33 rebounds, 5.00 assists and 0.83 steals in just 27.75 minutes.

He's projected to back-up another Blue Eagle, LA Tenorio, who was a PBA MVP candidate this past season.

Barako Bull takes back Rob Labagala out of the University of the East, a three-season PBA veteran who made the All-Rookie team in his debut campaign. He has spent his past three years with Barangay Ginebra, putting up career averages of 3.58 points, 0.81 rebounds and 1.04 assists in 12.03 minutes, but he saw personal lows in terms of production in 2012-13, norming just 2.55 points and 0.62 assists in 8.48 minutes. - AMD, GMA News
