NBA: Chris Paul elected Players Association president

Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul has been named the new National Basketball Players Association president, following an election at the union's annual summer meeting in Las Vegas, the NBPA announced.

Roger Mason Jr., currently an unsigned free agent, took the post of First Vice President, replacing Jerry Stackhouse. To take over for Paul and Mason Jr.'s old posts, Los Angeles Laker Steve Blake and Charlotte Bobcat Anthony Tolliver will serve as Executive Committee Vice Presidents.

James Jones of the Miami Heat remains as union secretary-treasurer, as his position was not up for election.

Paul, formerly a vice president in the union, takes over for Oklahoma City Thunder Derek Fisher, who is currently embroiled in a legal battle with former executive director Billy Hunter, after the latter was ousted over issues involving the NBPA's finances.
