'A Walk to Remember' remake is in the works
"A Walk to Remember," based on Nicholas Sparks' 1999 romance novel of the same name, is getting a reboot treatment under Monarch Media.
According to Deadline, the new film is set to have the original movie's producers, Denise Di Novi and Hunt Lowry. However, the director for the remake has yet to be revealed.
On Instagram, Sparks expressed excitement at the development.
"So excited to share the news of a brand new adaptation of my fan favorite 1999 novel, #AWalktoRemember!" he wrote.
In the 2002 film, Mandy Moore played high school teen Jamie Sullivan, who gets paired with resident bad boy Landon Carter (Shane West) to do community service. In the process, they fall in love but are forced to deal with Jamie's revelation of a terminal illness.
In 2019, Mandy and Shane reunited when the former received her own Hollywood Walk of Fame star. —Hermes Joy Tunac/KG, GMA Integrated News
