Liam Payne's cause of death confirmed in UK inquest –report
The cause of Liam Payne's death has been confirmed as "polytrauma" through a United Kingdom inquest, BBC reported.
According to the National Library of Medicine, polytrauma, also known as multi-trauma, "is a short verbal equivalent used for severely injured patients usually with associated injury."
Dr. Roberto Victor Cohen confirmed the One Direction star's medical cause of death.
"Whilst there are ongoing investigations in Argentina into the circumstances of Liam's death, over which I have no legal jurisdiction, it is anticipated that procuring the relevant information to address particularly how Liam came by his death may take some time through the formal channel of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office," said Senior Coroner Crispin Butler during the hearing.
Payne died in Buenos Aires after falling from the third floor balcony of a hotel in October last year. A post-mortem examination revealed his cause of death as "multiple trauma" and "internal and external hemorrhage" resulting from his fall.
An Argentinian prosecutor's office previously revealed Liam's toxicology tests saw "traces of alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant" in his body.
The office concluded that "the singer did not know what he was doing nor have any comprehension of his actions."
Multiple people have been charged in relation to Payne's death, including the hotel manager.
In November, Payne was laid to rest in a private funeral attended by his former One Direction bandmates Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Harry Styles.
