Selena Gomez had the internet swooning on Thursday when she announced her engagement to Benny Blanco, her boyfriend of just one year.

Like the Hollywood actress, Benny is no stranger to the spotlight, as he is known in the music industry as a top producer.

1. He is the music producer behind your favorite top hits

Benny Blanco most likely played a part in your favorite pop song, having produced songs like “Circus” by Britney Spears, “Diamonds” by Rihanna, “Love Yourself” by Justin Bieber, “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry, and “Tik Tok” by Kesha.

Years before they got together, Benny also collaborated with his fiancé Selena, producing some of her singles like "Kill 'Em With Kindness," "Single Soon," and "Same Old Love.”

Benny was nominated for multiple Grammy Awards beginning in 2011. In 2017, he was nominated for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical.

Benny released his first cookbook in April, titled “Open Wide: A Cookbook for Friends.” It was published by Harper Collins and written with cookbook author Jess Damuck.

According to the publisher, the book “teaches you everything you need to know about cooking, enjoying life, and throwing the greatest dinner party of all time.”

The book includes Benny’s recipes for Lose Your Mind Lobster Rolls, “I Might Go Vegetarian” Veggie Sandwich, Chicken Cutlets with Honey, Peppers, and Parm, and the “I Hope We Didn’t Make a Baby” Breakfast Burrito.

4. Benny went viral because of Jollibee

Benny went viral early this year because of Jollibee, but for all the wrong reasons.

On TikTok, the producer reviewed menu items like adobo rice, fried chicken, spaghetti, and peach mango pie and made sure to express his discontent, along the chicken was “soggy as f---” among other comments.

After being called out for being disrespectful by fans and Filipino content creators like Bretman Rock and Lumpia Queen Abi Marquez he posted a follow-up video where he tried out Jollibee's chicken sandwich. That one, he enjoyed, People Magazine reported.

5. Benny was among People Magazine’s Sexiest Men Alive in 2024

Benny was part of this year’s Sexiest Men Alive issue by People Magazine, where he showed that chivalry is not dead, and shared tips about being a gentleman.

These include learning how to cook, making dates an experience, having confidence, and treating your mother like a queen.
