Jonathan Roumie says role in 'The Chosen' gave him 'deeper longing and desire to know Jesus'
Jonathan Roumie, the actor who plays Jesus Christ in the series "The Chosen," paid a visit to the Philippines and got to meet some of his fans.
In his GMA Integrated News interview with Nelson Canlas, which aired on "24 Oras," Thursday, Jonathan said that adding touches of his personality helped him in portraying the role.
"I think the most impactful performances and the most successful performances are those where the actor has so much of their personality that they're contributing to the role," he said.
Playing Jesus had also given him "a deeper longing and desire to know Jesus on a continually deepening level. It makes me want to just know the inner workings of His mind and why He did the things He did."
Just like Filipinos, Jonathan also loves Christmas and finds it "awesome" that the country starts celebrating the holiday season in September.
"Traditionally, I like to go home and see my family for Christmas. I'm so busy traveling most of the year and filming. I don't get to go home all that often," Jonathan said, adding that he's been making more effort to spend time with his family.
Jonathan graced the special teal-carpet screening for his movie "Christmas With The Chosen: Holy Night."
Sparkle stars Betong Sumaya, Maey Bautista, Rain Matienzo, Shuvee Entrata, Rabiya Mateo, and Jeric Gonzales also attended the event.
