Nicole Scherzinger honors Liam Payne: ‘I am grateful to have known your kind heart’
Nicole Scherzinger honored Liam Payne in a letter on Instagram.
In her post, the "X Factor” judge and former Pussycat Dolls member posted selfies with Liam and fellow popstar Kelly Rowland in what looks like a dressing room.
“I will forever cherish and treasure the time we shared together, from fifteen years ago when One Direction was born, right up until just a few weeks ago," Nicole wrote in the caption.
“It was such a blessing to get to work with you recently. We shared the same love and passion for music and I will forever remember the meaningful and joyful conversations we had.”
Grieving, she shared that it's been difficult to make sense of Liam's passing.
"It’s been so hard to process that you’re no longer here, but I am grateful to have known your kind heart, sweet soul and character," she said.
“You brought so much joy, light, and laughter to the lives of those that truly knew you. I will 'miss you' my friend and carry you in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with your family."
Nicole played a vital role in creating One Direction, as she suggested to her fellow "The X Factor” judges that Liam would make a great addition to the boy band.
It was announced on October 17 that Liam died after he fell from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was 31 years old.
According to an autopsy report, he suffered 25 injuries, including a serious head injury. Police said he was alone when the incident happened, and there were indications that he experienced an episode due to alleged substance abuse.
One Direction released a joint statement saying they were "completely devastated" by Liam's death. Members Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan also released individual tributes.
Tributes also poured in from Liam’s fellow artists, like Charlie Puth, Zedd, Paris Hilton, and many more.
One Direction held a two-night concert in Manila in 2015. Their hit songs include “Night Changes,” “What Makes You Beautiful,” and “Story of My Life.”
Liam pursued a solo career when One Direction took an indefinite hiatus in 2016. His solo songs include “Strip That Down” featuring Quavo, “For You” featuring Rita Ora, and “Bedroom Floor.” His latest single, “Teardrops,” was released in March.
