Sydney Sweeney flaunts mullet, muscles in BTS photos from upcoming biopic on boxer Christy Martin

Sydney Sweeney gave fans a glimpse of her transformation for the film she's currently working on, which is an upcoming biopic about professional boxer Christy Martin.

On Instagram, Sydney shared photos of her sporting a brunette mullet and flexing her muscular arms.

According to the "Anyone But You" and "Euphoria" star, she has been focused on training these past couple of months in preparation for the role of Christy.

"I've been immersed in training to bring to life the story of an incredible woman—a true champion who fought battles both inside and outside the ring," she wrote.

"Her journey is a testament to resilience, strength, and hope, and I’m honored to step into her shoes to share her powerful story with you all."

Christy is a retired professional boxer whose career spanned over 20 years, holding the world champion title in the super welterweight class in 2009. In 2010, she survived a brutal murder attempt at the hands of her former husband, James Martin.

Upon her retirement in 2012, she had a record of 49 wins, 31 of which were by knockout; seven losses; and three draws, according to her website. In 2016, she became the first woman boxer to be inducted into the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame. Christy has five other Hall of Fame inductions, including the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2020.

The upcoming biopic about Christy, which does not have a title yet, is being directed by David Michôd, known for his work in "The King," "Animal Kingdom," and "The Rover," among others.

In a Deadline interview back in May, David said that the film will illustrate Christy's life as a young gay woman from a conservative family in West Virginia during the 1990s.

"She had to make some dangerous and fundamental compromises in her life, the most important of which was marrying an incredibly dangerous man," the director was quoted as saying.

In the same interview, Sydney shared she did kickboxing as a teenager and that she couldn't wait to get back into the ring for the "physically and emotionally demanding" role.

Other cast members include Tony Cavalero, Ben Foster, Merritt Weaver, Ethan Embry, Jess Gabor, Katy O'Brian, and Chad Colman, reported Deadline on October 16.
