Sabrina Carpenter's 'Espresso' wins Song of the Year, Taylor Swift is Artist of the Year at MTV VMAs 2024

The MTV Video Music Awards 2024 was a star-studded event!

The VMAs 2024, held at the UBS Arena in New York, awarded "Moonman" trophies to some of the best artists, music videos, and songs that were released from June 2023 to June 2024.

“Espresso,” Sabrina Carpenter’s megahit, was awarded Song of the Year. It was the singer-actress’ first Moonman.

"I've literally never won one of these. I feel so grateful to have truly the best fans in the world,” Sabrina said in her acceptance speech.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift was nominated for 12 awards. She won Best Collaboration, Best Pop, Song of the Summer, Best Direction, and Best Editing for “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone. She also won her third Video of the Year award in a row for the song, which is known as the event’s biggest award.

She thanked boyfriend Travis Kelce in her speech for always cheering her on.

“Something that I’ll always remember is when I finished a take and I’d say 'cut,' and we’d be done with that take, I would always hear someone cheering from across the studio where we were shooting it. That one person was my boyfriend Travis," she said.

Taylor was also named Artist of the Year and is now officially the most awarded solo artist in VMAs history with 30 Moonman trophies.

Another memorable win for the night was Blackpink's Lisa for Best K-Pop for her solo single “Rockstar.”

“’Rockstar’ was a meaningful comeback for me after ‘Lalisa,’ so this is very, very special to me,” she said in her speech.

Breakout star Chappell Roan was named Best New Artist and dedicated her first Moonman to her LGBTQIA+ fans.

"I dedicate this to all the drag artists who inspire me and I dedicate this to queer and trans people who fuel pop," she said.

"For all the queer kids in the Midwest watching right now, I see you, I understand you, because I’m one of you,” the “Good Luck, Babe!” hitmaker added.
