ADOR appoints new CEO, Min Hee Jin says decision was made 'unilaterally'
HYBE Labels has appointed a new CEO for ADOR, after Min Hee Jin was "dismissed."
According to a report on Soompi, the record label that's managing K-Pop girl group NewJeans has appointed Human Resources expert Kim Joo Young as its new CEO.
Hee Jin meanwhile will remain in the company as an internal director and will continue to act as the executive producer for NewJeans.
“ADOR’s internal organization will now separate production and management. This is in line with the multi-label operation principle that has consistently been applied to all other labels," read a portion of ADOR's statement, which noted that ADOR "been an exception where the CEO oversaw both production and management.”
Following the ADOR's announcement, Hee Jin revealed through a representative that "the decision to dismiss CEO Min Hee Jin was made unilaterally without her consent, which is a clear violation of the shareholder agreement.”
The decision for Hee Jin to continue producing for NewJeans was not discussed with her, the rep continued.
Hee Jin narrated being notified about Tuesday's board meeting "regarding a change in the CEO position" just last Saturday. She attended through a phone call.
Citing a source, Soompi said " nothing has been decided yet regarding this matter."
Hee Jin was involved in a 500 Million KRW lawsuit with Source Music, another HYBE label managing girl group LE SSERAFIM, for “defamation and disruption of business” following her controversial statements that she made regarding the group on her press conferences.
LE SSERAFIM was subject to online backlash following their COACHELLA performances and Min’s statements, prompting them to close their Instagram comments.
She was also previously sued by another HYBE sublabel BELIFT, which managed ENHYPEN and ILLIT, for “for defamation and obstruction of business over her comments that BELIFT’s breakout girl group ILLIT had plagiarized NewJeans,” and plagiarism accusations against the aforementioned girl group.
