BTS’s Suga apologizes anew over drunk driving incident

Suga of BTS has released another apology following his drunk driving incident.

The rapper took to the BTS Weverse page to write a letter to the BTS ARMY.

According to a translation made by Soompi, Suga first introduced himself before apologizing again "with shame."

"I deeply apologize for the disappointment and hurt of my misbehavior to my fans and everyone who loves me," he said.

“I've made a big mistake, forgetting the responsibility to repay you with actions worthy of the love I've received,” he added.

The K-pop star recalled what happened on the night of August 6 when the accident took place. He admitted he made a “mistake” of riding an electric scooter on the sidewalk after drinking.

He also apologized for causing a great deal of “confusion” following the first apology he posted on August 7. “I should have thought more deeply and carefully, but I failed to do so,” Suga said.

The BTS member took responsibility for what happened. “Everything is my fault. Due to my carelessness, everyone who cares about me is going through a difficult time,” Suga said, adding that he will “reflect” and make efforts not to commit such wrongdoings again.

Apart from saying sorry to his fans, Suga made sure to apologize to his fellow BTS members for “disappointing” them.

Ending his apology letter, Suga said that he will “accept” not only the disciplinary measure that will be decided by the authorities, but also criticisms.

“Finally, I once again bow my head and sincerely apologize for causing a controversy and disappointing many people,” he ended.

On August 7, Suga released a statement of apology amid reports of his DUI charge. He shared that he went out to dinner and had drinks. Afterwards, he went home using an electric scooter and fell while parking the scooter in front of his home.

Nearby police officers approached him and conducted a beathalyzer test, fined him, and suspended his license.

Suga said there were no people affected or any establishments damaged, but took responsibility for what happened, "to bow my head and apologize with no excuses."

"I'd like to apologize for my negligence and wrong behavior to all those whose my actions have hurt, and will be careful with my actions to make sure that things like this do not happen again," he said.

Following his first apology, Suga faced police investigations. He also assured he will cooperate with the police's investigation.

Suga is among the BTS members who are currently undergoing his mandatory military service. So far, only Jin has been discharged after completing his service.

Also known as Agust D, Suga has released two mixtapes, a self-titled one released in 2016, and "D-2," which dropped in 2020, and his studio album "D-Day," which was released in 2023.

BTS is set to reconvene as a group in 2025.
