SUGA of BTS faces police investigation amid drunk driving issue

SUGA of BTS on Friday night faced Seoul police after being charged with riding an electric scooter while under the influence earlier this August.

According to a report by Iya Villania on "24 Oras," the South Korean rapper bowed in front of the media and apologized anew for disappointing fans.

He also assured he will cooperate with the police's investigation.

On August 6, SUGA released a statement of apology amid reports of his DUI charge. He shared that he went out to dinner and had drinks. Afterwards, he went home using an electric scooter. He fell while parking the scooter in front of his home, and nearby police officers approached him. They conducted a beathalyzer test, fined him, and suspended his license.

SUGA added that there were no people affected or establishments damaged, but took responsibility for what happened, "to bow my head and apologize with no excuses."

"I'd like to apologize for my negligence and wrong behavior to all those whose my actions have hurt, and will be careful with my actions to make sure that things like this do not happen again," he said.

SUGA is currently undergoing his mandatory military service. So far, the only BTS member who has been discharged is Jin.

Also known as Agust D, SUGA has released two mixtapes, a self-titled one released in 2016, and "D-2," which dropped in 2020, and his studio album "D-Day," which was released in 2023.
