Pokémon mourns passing of voice actor Rachael Lillis
Pokémon is mourning the passing of voice actor Rachael Lillis, who gave life to characters Misty and Jessie.
"We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Rachael Lillis," Pokémon began its tribute on social media.
"Her performance in the Pokémon animated series will be cherished by the many fans who grew up with the characters she brought to life with her special talent."
Sending their thoughts and prayers to Rachael's family and friends, Pokémon said Rachael "will be remembered for generations to come, and we will always keep her close in our hearts."
According to Variety, Rachael died on Saturday at age 46. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in May.
Her fellow Pokémon voice actor Veronica Taylor announced Rachael's untimely death on X (formerly Twitter) Sunday.
"Rachael was so thankful for all the generous love and support that was given to her as she battled cancer. It truly made a positive difference," Taylor said.
"Her family also wishes to thank you as they take this time to grieve privately. A memorial is being planned for a future date.”
Quoting IMDB, BBC reports Rachael's "voice appeared on 423 episodes of Pokémon between 1997 and 2015."
Apart from Misty and Jessie, Rachael also voiced Jigglypuff.
