Jin of BTS is South Korea’s torchbearer for 2024 Paris Summer Olympics — report

BTS member Jin is set to carry the torch of South Korea for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. 

Citing a music industry source, Korea Times reports the K-pop star will be traveling to France to participate in the Summer Olympics that will take place beginning July 26. 

The exact date and location have not been revealed.

The Summer Olympics is a major international multi-sport event normally held every four years. This year, it will take place in Paris, from July 26 to August 11.

At least 15 athletes from the Philippines have qualified for the Paris Games and more are expected as the Olympics nears.

Previously, Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo flew to France to prepare for the global sporting event.

Meanwhile, Jin recently finished his military services on June 12 after serving for 18 months. He enlisted in December 2022.

Following his discharge, Jin led this year's Festa, the annual month-long celebration of BTS' anniversary on June 13. 

BTS is expected to reconvene in 2025.
