Jin of BTS discharged from military

Jin of BTS on Wednesday got discharged from the South Korean military after 18 months of service.

While there was no official event to mark the occasion, the singer and global superstar was shown leaving his base in live broadcasts by Korean media. He was also spotted hugging his fellow soldiers goodbye and shedding some tears.

His fellow BTS members were also present to celebrate Jin's release from mandatory service.

Jin ended his conscription just in time for BTS' 11th anniversary on June 13. According to previous announcements by BigHit Music, Jin will be leading Festa celebrations with an in-person event with ARMYs.

"Festa," which falls on June 13 every year, is known to be a festival lasting anywhere between one to two weeks, filled with events dedicated to the loyal fans, the ARMYs.

Jin is the first BTS member to be discharged from the military. He enlisted in December 2022.

Prior to enlistment, he made his official solo debut with “The Astronaut,” co-written by Coldplay, which made it to music charts just shortly after its release.

The rest of BTS are currently still in active military service. The supergroup is set to reconvene in 2025. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
