This is Ariana Grande's reaction after learning of her lead role in 'Wicked' the movie

Ariana Grande turned emotional after she received the news that she would be playing the role of Glinda in the upcoming movie “Wicked.”

In a behind-the-scenes video, first seen in the Philippines on GMA Integrated News, Ariana recalled seeing the original Broadway cast when she was just 10 years old and “I just felt an immediate bond," she said.

Very early on, Ariana knew she wanted to play Glinda.

During auditions, "Wicked" director Jon M. Chu said he saw an "Ari that I'd never seen before."

And when he delivered the good news to Ariana in an online call, the "thank you next" singer turned emotional and burst into tears.

“Oh my God. Thank you! I love her so much," she said between breaths.

"I’m gonna take such good care of her,” she added.

Last year, Ariana expressed her gratitude for the role, saying every day in Oz is life-changing.

"To be feeling, learning and growing so much at such a disarming speed… to feel so much love around me, to begin each day before the sun is up and to end after it sets…to be transforming and healing parts of me that I never knew needed it. Or maybe did," she said.

A beloved Broadway musical, "Wicked" has been at the theaters for two decades before making its way to the big screen. It is the prequel to the beloved "Wizard of the Oz," and is adapted from a 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire.

Apart from Ariana, "Wicked" the movie also stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard.

It will hit Philippine cinemas beginning on November 27.
