J-pop group Arashi establishes new company

Japanese pop group Arashi has announced that they have established a new company.

The announcement was made through an Instagram post on Wednesday, explaining that the five-member group have decided to set up a new agency which will be called Starto Entertainment.

The five-member group also said that they "want to be more independent than ever before, make more independent decisions than ever before, and act more independently than ever before."

“Above all, we want to feel closer to our fans who support us every day. With these thoughts in mind, the five of us discussed over and over again and established this new company,” they added. “There are limits to what we can do alone, but we hope that we can continue to make preparations for the future with the help of the staff we have worked with up to this point.”

Ending their post, the group didn’t miss the chance to thank their fans for their continuous support to Arashi.

Arashi was formed in 1999 under the Johnny & Associates agency. It is composed of five members: Jun Matsumoto, Satoshi Ono, Sho Sakurai, Masaki Aiba, and Kazunari Ninomiya.

The group sang "Love So Sweet," the opening theme song for "Hana Yori Dango Returns," the Japanese version of "Meteor Garden."

Matsumoto, one of the group's members, starred as Tsukasa Domyouji, the leader of F4 in the beloved series.

In 2020, the band celebrated their 21st debut anniversary.
