'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' star Andre Braugher dies at 61


Andre Braugher, best known for his roles in “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Homicide: Life on the Street,” passed away on Monday due to a recent illness. He was 61.

Braugher’s publicist, Jennifer Allen, confirmed the sad news to several media outlets, including People and Variety.

Braugher played the role of Captain Raymond Holt on the comedy series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” which ended in 2021 after airing for eight years.

Meanwhile, his role as Detective Frank Pembleton on “Homicide: Life on Street” led him to win an Emmy award for lead actor.

He also starred in several television shows, including “Gideon’s Crossing,” “Hack,” “Men of a Certain Age,” and “Thief,” which earned him his second Emmy award.

Braugher married his “Homicide: Life on Street” co-star Ami Brabson in 1991. They have three kids: Michael, Isaiah, and John Wesley.

Before his acting career, Braugher earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University, followed by his master’s degree in Fine Arts from the Juilliard School in New York City. —Hermes Tunac/JCB, GMA Integrated News
