Billie Eilish earns first acting nomination for performance in 'Swarm'

Billie Eilish earned her first Best Supporting Performance nomination for her performance in "Swarm" at the Film Independent Spirit Awards 2024.

On Instagram, the singer expressed gratitude for her first nomination as an actress.

"Damn, thank you to all the members who voted for me," she wrote in the caption. "To be recognized for this is so crazy."

Billie also thanked Prime Video and the film's creators, Janine Nabers and Donald Glover, as well as main star Dominique Fishback, for their contributions.

Aside from Billie, Dominique is also nominated for Best Lead Performance.

"Swarm" series tells the story of Dre (Dominique), a young woman who is obsessed with a pop star, whose fanbase is known as "The Swarm." Her obsession leads to many crimes, including the murder of her idol's bashers.

Billie portrayed the demurely manipulative all-women cult leader character of Eva, who entraps Dre under the guise of "female empowerment."

The 39th Spirit Awards winners will be announced on Feb. 25, 2024.

Previously, Billie came out as gay in the November cover story of Variety magazine.

Billie and her brother Finneas were the masterminds behind "What Was I Made For?" which was the official soundtrack of the film "Barbie," directed by Greta Gerwig. "Barbie" starred Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrara, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Rhea Perlman, Dua Lipa, and Will Ferrell.

In August 2022, Billie was in the Philippines for her sold-out "Happier Than Ever" concert in Manila.
