BTS' Jungkook pens letter to 'ARMY,' announces December military enlistment
Jungkook knows how to make ARMYs feel better.
The BTS member and “golden maknae” penned a heartfelt letter on Weverse addressed to ARMY, the K-pop supergroup's dedicated fan base, thanking them for their support.
Jungkook’s post came after the announcement of Big Hit Music that he and fellow BTS members RM, Jimin, and V “are preparing to fulfill their military service duties."
“In December, I will start a new journey. I’m leaving you for a while to serve in the military,” Jungkook began in the letter posted via WeVerse.
“As I share this news, I feel heavy on one hand, and on the other hand I’m reminded of precious memories with ARMY so my heart warms up,” he continued.
Jungkook also described the moments he shared with fans as the “brightest time of his life” and said that their love and support “led him to that point.”
He went to thank ARMYs for supporting his dream and “walking with him silently.”
He also promised to be back on stage with a “mature side of him.”
In closing his letter, Jungkook expresses his hope that his fans will live happily, beautifully, and healthily as they await the day they will meet again.
“Don’t get sick and stay healthy. I love you,” he said.
Jungkook is the first among the four members to mention the month of his military enlistment following the earlier announcement.
He released his solo album, “GOLDEN,” on November 3, featuring “Standing Next to You” as the lead track.
Additionally, Jungkook made his solo debut on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon,” marking his first appearance as a solo artist to promote the album.
Three BTS members are already serving in the South Korean military. Jin enlisted in December 2022, followed by j-Hope in April 2023, and Suga in September 2023.
BTS is expected to reconvene as a group in 2025.
We'll wait for you, JK!
