Paris Hilton brought back nostalgia for several '90s kids on the internet when she posted a major throwback photo on Instagram.
On Monday, the American socialite shared iconic selfies of herself with Pop Princess Britney Spears taken 17 years ago.
“17 years ago, [Britney] and I created the selfie,” Paris quipped in the caption, referencing the trend that was popularized in 2013.
In 2013, the Oxford Dictionaries named “selfie” as the International Word of the Year.
According to the Oxford Dictionary, selfie is an informal noun defined as “a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website.”
Meanwhile, fans can't help but express their nostalgia for the photo that took the 2006 pop culture by storm, with some even requesting a 2023 version of these iconic selfies.

“We need 2023 selfies together,” another netizen wrote.
In an interview with People magazine in October 2023, Paris expressed that she's “so proud” of Britney for “telling her story” in the new memoir titled “The Woman in Me.”
Britney released “The Woman in Me” on October 24, 2023, reflecting on her life as a teen idol, her rise to fame, her highly publicized relationship with Justin Timberlake, her struggles, and her time under conservatorship.
