Courteney Cox pays tribute to Matthew Perry
Courteney Cox paid tribute to her late friend and co-star, Matthew Perry.
The two starred as Chandler and Monica in the hit '90s sitcom, whose slow burn-story evolved through the 10 seasons of "Friends" from a hilarious friendship into a steadfast "adult" relationship before finally getting married, and starting a family together.
On Instagram, the Hollywood actress said “I am so grateful for every moment I had with you Matty and I miss you every day."
“When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share. For now here’s one of my favorites," Courteney added.
She posted a clip of the scene wherein Chandler and Monica were revealed to have slept together at Ross' wedding in London.
According to Courteney, Chandler and Monica were only supposed to have a one-night fling.
“But because of the audience’s reaction, it became the beginning of their love story,” Courteney said.
“In this scene, before we started rolling, he whispered a funny line for me to say,” she revealed, adding “he often did things like that."
"He was funny and he was kind,” Courteney remembered her friend.
Her Instagram post followed the tribute posted by fellow "Friend" Matt LeBlanc, who played Joey, Chandler's best friend and roommate.
Matthew died of drowning in October at 54 years old.
Several celebrities quickly mourned his death, including actress Maggie Wheeler, who played Janice, Chandler's on-and-off again girlfriend on the show.
The remaining cast of "Friends"—Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc—issued a joint statement a few days later, saying they were left "utterly devastated."
Matthew was laid to rest in Los Angeles on the first Friday of November. Shortly after, Jennifer Anniston was reported to be struggling the most about his death.
In the Philippines, a freedom wall was set up at SM North Edsa to honor Matthew. Fans also paid tribute to him outside the New York apartment building used for the show.
