Matthew Perry of 'Friends' dies at 54 — report
Matthew Perry, best known for his character Chandler Bing on the hit '90s sitcom "Friends," has died. He was 54.
According to a TMZ report, the actor was found "to have drowned" at a home in Los Angeles, California on Saturday.
"Our sources say [first responders] rushed over on a call for cardiac arrest," TMZ reported.
TMZ's sources also said he was found in a jacuzzi at home, and "there were no drugs found at the scene."
"We're also told there is no foul play involved," it added.
On social media, the official account of the TV show Friends mourned Matthew's passing.
"We are devastated to learn of Matthew Perry’s passing," it said. "He was a true gift to us all. Our heart goes out to his family, loved ones, and all of his fans.
Matthew Perry and Chandler Bing instantly became trending topics on Philippine Twitter Sunday, with more than 400K tweets combined as of writing.
Matthew was among the cast of "Friends" that made waves in the '90s. It first aired in 1994 and ran for 10 straight seasons.
It ended in 2004, with a finale that was watched by some 52 million Americans.
Matthew played Chandler Bing, Joey Tribriani's roommate (Matt LeBlanc) and eventually became Monica Geller's husband (Courtney Cox).
They had a successful reunion in 2021.
In 2020, Matthew joined Instagram, and his co-stars from "Friends" rejoiced, including Lisa Kudrow, Courtney Cox, and Jennifer Aniston.
