Jamie Lee Curtis wants to play Doctor Kureha in Netflix's 'One Piece'
Jamie Lee Curtis has expressed her desire to portray Doctor Kureha in Netflix's live adaptation of "One Piece."
On Saturday, the Oscar-winning actress took to Instagram to echo the fans' request for her to portray Doctor Kureha.
"Once the strike against the greed of the [AMPTP] is settled with a fair contract, I will lobby along with the growing fan frenzy to become Doctor Kureha," Jamie said in the caption.
In the comment section, Matt Owens, "One Piece" execute producer and showrunner, responded positively to Jamie's post.
"Mommy dearest, that's why we sent you that figure! No need to lobby," Matt commented.
"Once we get what we deserve and get back to work, let's talk!" he added.
In "One Piece," Dr. Kureha is a 141-year-old doctor who is the adoptive mother and mentor of Tony Tony Chopper, the doctor of Straw Hat Pirates. She is expected to appear in Season 2.
"One Piece" is based on the manga by Eiichiro Oda, one of the show's executive producers.
It follows Monkey D. Luffy and his crew as they sail the seas to search for the One Piece, a legendary treasure, and ultimately become King of the Pirates.
After its premiere in late August, the "One Piece" live action became the top-watched title on Netflix around the globe, garnering a whopping 18.5 million views in just four days of release. It reached the Top 10 in 93 countries and debuted at #1 in 46.
Earlier this month, "One Piece" got renewed for Season 2 on Netflix.
