Dwayne Johnson to reprise role in Disney's Moana live-action film

Dwayne Johnson will reprise his role as the demi-god Maui in the live-action reimagining of Disney's hit movie, Moana.

In the announcement posted on the official Disney social media accounts, Johnson said "Moana, Gramma Tala, the music, the dance, the Te Fiti, Pua the pig, the village, the beautiful, power Ocean" will return.

"And one more... What's that guy's ... Oh! Yours truly, Heihei the chicken. Just kidding, Heihei's gonna be in it. But, of course, Maui will be in it too," he added.

The actor did not mention release date, but said that the movie is "in the works," adding that fans can stay tuned for other announcements.

He said there was so much inspiration from his late grandfather, the legendary High Chief, Peter Maivia.

"In a way that I bring Maui to life, I'm doing it in the spirit of my grandfather," he added. -- BAP, GMA Integrated News
