J-Hope from BTS’ new single ‘on the street’ feels like the best guidance
J-Hope from BTS lives up to his name in his new single “on the street,” featuring J. Cole.
The song has some old-school hip-hop influences. In the smooth yet emotional track, J-Hope sings about growth and how he will give his all to be a symbol of hope.
J-Hope provides some heartwarming guidance with the lines, “go on hopefully, wherever you walk. In these streets imbued with someone's breath, I leave my soul and my eternity.”
He also sings this comforting line in the chorus, “Every time I hope, as always, for us.”
In the music video, the BTS member sings his verses and presents his dance skills that come second to none, literally “on the street” through New York City.
When J. Cole raps his equally moving verse, J-Hope dances freestyle in a subway station.
At the end of the video, the two meet on the rooftop first shown in the teaser.
J. Cole is one of J-Hope’s biggest musical inspirations, which makes it a very meaningful collaboration. The two first met when J-Hope headlined Lollapalooza in 2022.
The artist’s solo documentary “J-Hope in the Box” premiered on Disney+ last February. The film gave an intimate look at J-Hope preparing for his first solo album “Jack in the Box,” dance rehearsals, life at home, the album launch party that BTS attended, and preparations for Lollapalooza.
Aside from “on the street (with J. Cole)” and “Jack in the Box,” J-Hope released the mixtape “Hope World” in 2018 and the single “Chicken Noodle Soup” in 2019. — LA, GMA Integrated News
