Foo Fighters to carry on as a band without late drummer Taylor Hawkins
Foo Fighters greeted 2023 with a heartfelt message to their fans that they will be carrying on as a band without late drummer Taylor Hawkins.
In a statement on Saturday, the American rock band looked back on 2022 as the "most difficult and tragic year" with Taylor's passing in March.
The band, however, also looked back on their roots 27 years ago to represent the "healing power of music and a continuation of life."
"Without Taylor, we never would have become the band that we were—and without Taylor, we know that we're going to be a different band going forward," they said.
"We also know that you, the fans, meant as much to Taylor as he meant to you," they added. "And we know that when we see you again—and we will soon—he'll be there in spirit with all of us every night."
Foo Fighters held two tribute concerts for Taylor in September. In one of the concerts, his son, Shane, played the drums for a performance of their classic hit "My Hero."
Foo Fighters is composed of Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, and Rami Jaffee.
Among the band's popular songs are "Everlong," "The Pretender," "Learn to Fly," and "Best of You."
