Hilary Duff mourns Aaron Carter's passing: 'My teenage self love you deeply'

Hilary Duff took to Instagram on Sunday to pay tribute to her late ex-lover,  Aaron Carter.

According to media reports, Aaron, 34, was found dead at his home near Los Angeles on Saturday.

"For Aaron," Hilary began. "I'm deeply sorry that life was so hard for you and that you had to struggle in front of the whole world."

"You had a charm that was absolutely effervescent," she added.

Hilary and Aaron, who had an on-and-off relationship for three years, starred in the 2001 Disney Channel series "Lizzie McGuire."

"Boy did my teenage self love you deeply," the American singer-actress said.

Hilary then concluded her tribute by telling Aaron to "rest easy." She also wrote that she was sending love to Aaron's family during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Aaron.
