YG Entertainment takes legal action vs leaker of Jennie's private photos
YG Entertainment has taken legal action against the person who leaked private photos of Blackpink member Jennie.
According to a report on Soompi, YG released a statement announcing that they requested the police to investigate the distributor of the photos.
The images led to rumors of Jennie and BTS member V dating, as they allegedly showed the pair together.
"The recent mass production of rumors, accusations, personal attacks, sexual harassment, and invasion of privacy sparked by the personal photos have been occurring indiscriminately, so we felt a sense of responsibility, making it difficult for us to overlook this any longer," the statement read.
The agency said they initially refrained to comment on the situation to minimize further damage.
"We inform you that we have filed a complaint for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act, violation of the prohibition of illegal information distribution, and obscene use of communication media for the actions of repeatedly uploading information that has not been verified to be true and writing excessively malicious posts."
YG also asked fans to avoid indiscriminately sharing the photos, as the act of sharing them is a secondary offense and subject to legal punishment.
"YG Entertainment will continue to work hard to protect the rights of the agency's artist going forward," the statement closed.
