Jackson Wang bares his true self in new album ‘MAGICMAN,’ releases trippy music video for ‘Blue’
Jackson Wang has finally released his much-awaited album “MAGICMAN,” the first physical album in his career.
The soloist and GOT7 member penned an emotional Instagram post about the album and the challenges it took to get here.
“I really don’t know what to say now. Thanks to the pain, struggle and the obstacles through the hills and valleys of what [I] experience in my career, in the industry. [M]entally, physically and personally.”
On this release day, Jackson said he wants to be honest with everyone.
“This is me. The music, the lyrics, the delivery, the attitude, color, tone…”
Jackson then talked about the meaning behind the album’s name.
“MAGICMAN is the ultimate form of [oneself], having gone through different peaks and valleys of life to arrive at the most authentic version. Everyone is able to become their own form of MAGICMAN.”
A trippy music video for the album’s final track “Blue” also premiered. It features a blond Jackson floating through the sky, then through a fire, until he falls into an ocean as he sings about feeling hopeful despite being blue.
“It’s been too long [and] I have waited long enough. Hope everyone will enjoy the tone [and] color of the album and understand and relate to the way how I delivered it. All the audience that were with me since day 1 will know what we all been through, how we all evolved into what we are today,” Jackson said in the music video’s comment section.
“New audience, welcome to the fam, I promise we will be on a crazy journey. Very far but yet sooooo close, I believe one day we will be there,” he added.
“MAGICMAN” also holds Jackson’s previously released singles “Blow” and “Cruel,” which also had awesome MVs.
Jackson’s first album “MIRRORS” was released in 2019, followed by the mixtape “LOST & FOUND” released last March. Both only had digital releases. — LA, GMA News
