Squid Game’s Lee Yoo Mi becomes 1st South Korean actress to win the Emmys


Lee Yoo Mi just made history at the 2022 Emmy Awards!

Yoo Mi, who appeared in Netlflix Original’s “Squid Game” just bagged the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series on Sunday’s Creative Arts Emmy.

According to a separate tweet by Television Academy, the Korean actress said that she’s grateful for the award.

“I’m so happy, and I honestly can’t believe it. I can’t wait to tell my close friends and brag to them. Thank you so much,” she said.

 

 

Yoo-mi’s agency, VARO Entertainment, also shared her winning moment at the Emmys on Instagram, Monday.

 

 

The newly-minted Emmy awardee played the role of Ji Yeong in the episode “Gganbu,” who gave way to her opponent during the life or death game since she claimed she didn’t “care about winning” the game and that she didn’t “have anywhere else to be.”

Meanwhile, “Squid Game” has also won several awards from the Emmys, including Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single Episode, Outstanding Stunt Performance, and Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary Program (One Hour or More).
