Britney Spears announces new song in 6 years: 'I'm singing with one of the most classic men of our time Elton John'
Britney Spears and Elton John are giving us some vibes with their upcoming song collaboration titled "Hold Me Closer."
On Twitter Thursday, the "Oops!…I Did It Again" hitmaker announced that her "first song in six years" is a collaboration with award-winning singer-songwriter Sir Elton John.
"It's pretty damn cool that I'm singing with one of the most classic men of our time … Elton John," the 40-year-old singer tweeted, tagging Elton.
Admitting that she's somewhat overwhelmed, Britney said the collaboration with Elton is a huge deal for her.
"I'm meditating more and learning my space is valuable and precious !!!" She continued.
Earlier in the month, Interscope Records announced the collaboration between the two artists but gave no further details except for the song title.
On his social media accounts, Elton John has been more forthcoming. On Instagram Monday, he shared photos of them two and hinted at a Friday release.
"August 26," he wrote, using the hashtag #HoldMeCloser.
On TikTok meanwhile, he gave a 14-second song preview, which leans heavily on his 1971 classic "Tiny Dancer."

It marks yet another great turn of events for the singer, who got her conservatorship lifted last year and then got married this year.
