Barbie Ferreira announces departure from 'Euphoria'

Barbie Ferreira will not be returning for the third season of "Euphoria."

The actress, who played Katherine Hernandez, announced her departure through Instagram Stories on Thursday.

"After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I'm having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye," she said.

Kat completed the best friend trio of Maddie (Alexa Demie) and Cassie (Sydney Sweeney). In "Euphoria," Kat's character underwent several stages of exploring her sexuality while being a beacon of body positivity.

"I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today," Barbie said.

"I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it. Love you Katherine Hernandez," she added.

In February 2022, HBO announced that "Euphoria," top-billed by Zendaya and Jacob Elordi, got renewed for Season 3. —Hermes Tunac/JCB, GMA News
