Why Don’t We goes on hiatus, cancels ‘Good Times Only’ tour

Why Don’t We is going on hiatus and cancelling their “Good Times Only” tour, which is set to start on July 27.

The American boy band made the announcement on Instagram, saying the decision was made “due to unforeseen circumstances related to our ongoing legal battle to emancipate ourselves from the production company we signed up with when we started our Why Don’t We journey.”

“All we ever want to do in our careers is make great music and perform for all you lovely people,” said their statement.

“In light of this announcement, Why Don’t We is officially going on hiatus. Your love and support means everything to us [five] guys,” they added. “We love you!”

In the same post, the band showed what looked like a cease and desist letter. With parts of it covered, the letter said Why Don’t We didn’t have the “capacity to enter into an agreement with any promoter or venue for this tour” without Signature Entertainment.

The letter also instructed the band to “immediately cease and desist from promoting or otherwise proceeding with the tour or using Signature’s intellectual property rights without Signature’s authorization.”

According to a Rolling Stone report, the band has an ongoing legal battle with their management Signature Entertainment. They are set to face a hearing with the company soon.

Formed in 2016, Why Don’t We is composed of Jonah Marais, Corbyn Besson, Daniel Seavey, Jack Avery, and Zach Herron.

They are popular for their hits “8 Letters,” “Just Friends,” “Let Me Down Easy,” “Grey,” and “Don’t Wake Me Up,” among other songs. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
