Natalie Portman talks about holding Mjolnir, Tessa Thompson on working with Chris Hemsworth on ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’
Natalie Portman returns to the “Thor” franchise not only as Jane Foster, but also as Mighty Thor himself.
In an interview with GMA anchor Lyn Ching, Natalie said that while preparing for her “Thor: Love and Thunder” role, she was able to take home Thor’s weapon, the Mjolnir, which made her children excited.
“It was really, really lucky to get to impress them for the first time in my career,” said Natalie.
“I was really lucky to get to take my practice Mjolnir home, that I got to use at home for my stunts, and it’s soft so that I was able to practice without injuring myself so now it’s great because my kids can play with it. No one’s gonna get hurt.”
Natalie described how she felt about playing Mighty Thor. “It’s so lucky have anyone imagine you as a superhero,” she said.
“You know I was turning 40 while we were making the film. It was really fun to get to imagine what that’s like, to walk through the world in such a kind of powerful way.”
She also praised her co-star Chris Hemsworth, who played Thor.
“He’s so physically powerful, he’s so sweet, he’s so funny,” she said. “He immediately puts you at ease, that I think he works hard not to be intimidating.”
Tessa Thompson, who plays Valkyrie and is now on her fourth movie with Chris, also has nice words to say about him.
“Chris is really generous,” she said. “He’s really fun to be around. He’s really like a lovely spirit, so gifted at comedy but he’s also so gifted at drama.
