Vanessa Hudgens’ Met Gala 2022 gown pays homage to Filipino heritage

Vanessa Hudgens did not forget to incorporate something Filipino to her gorgeous Met Gala 2022 fit.

Sharing more photos from the glamorous event on Instagram Wednesday, the Filipina-American actress detailed some stories behind her black dress. 

Apart from being designed by her friend Jeremy Scott, Vanessa said the outfit made her “so obsessed” because of the inspirations behind the gown.

“The silhouette is actually historically correct for the glided age theme, I got to be the glamorous witch that I am and the puff sleeve pays homage to my Filipino heritage,” she wrote. “Truly a magical one.”

Vanessa had always been proud to be a Filipina. Previously, she captioned one of her Instagram posts in Tagalog. She also once said Christmas isn’t complete without her favorite Pinoy dishes.

In an interview with Glamour in 2021, the “High School Musical” and “The Princess Switch” actress also expressed hope to make a film about her immigrant Filipino mother. -- BAP, GMA News
