CL shares why she invited 2NE1 to Coachella for reunion performance

Iconic K-pop girl group 2NE1 stunned the world when they reunited for a performance at Coachella 2022.

CL's label 88 Rising had previously teased its artists' participation for the music festival, including GOT7's Jackson Wang. Fans had guessed that CL would be a part of the lineup.

However, CL came with her former members Minzy, Dara, and Bom, for their first stage together since 2015.

"After I was invited to Coachella, the reason I really wanted to invite my members here was because I wanted to get together through my strength and our strength, before it was too late," CL said in an Instagram post, translated by Soompi.

"Through this performance, we wanted to greet all the people who have protected and been with us all this time, and say thank you to those who have loved and spent time with 2NE1 for the past 13 years," she added.

CL also said that that day had become "such an important and meaningful day" to her.

She went on to thank the members and everyone who helped their performance "shine."

"I will continue moving forward for the day next time where I can fill this stage for a full hour," she said.

South Korean girl group 2NE1 debuted under YG Entertainment in 2009. In 2015, they went on hiatus, and in 2016, they officially disbanded.

In an earlier interview, CL opened up about learning of their disbandment through the media.

"That was very heartbreaking for me," she said.
