P. Diddy to Will Smith and Chris Rock after slapping incident: 'We are going to solve that like family'
Shortly after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars, Sean "P.Diddy" Combs took to the stage to present the next award — but not without addressing the slapping incident.
"I did not know that they year's Oscars was going to be the most exciting Oscars ever," the rapper began in jest.
"Will and Chris, we are going to solve that like family at the gold party," he continued as the audiences laughed with obvious relief.
"But right now we are moving on with love," Sean said as the cameras showed Will and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith laughing and applauding the presenter.
"Everybody make some noise," he continued as everybody clapped.
Smith slapped Chris Rock shortly after the latter made a joke about the hairstyle of Jada, who came out as having alopecia in 2018.
Accepting his first Oscar trophy later on, Smith apologised to the Academy in his tearful speech.
"I want to apologize to the Academy. I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment, and I'm not crying for winning an award. It's not about winning an award for me. It's about being able to shine a light on all of the people," the Oscar awardee said while in tears.
"Thank you for this honor. Thank you for this moment... and thank you and hoping The Academy invites me back. Thank you," he finished his speech. — LA, GMA News
