Seo Ye Ji apologizes over dispute with Kim Jung Hyun
Korean actress Seo Ye Ji has issued an apology months after she was caught in a controversy involving her past relationship with fellow actor Kim Jung Hyun.
Last year, the “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” actress was said to have controlled Jung Hyun when he worked on his 2018 drama “Time” with Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun. As such, it was “impossible” for the actor to “participate in filming without one’s own will.”
Ye Ji kept silent then, but her agency Gold Medalist issued a statement. They clarified that refusal to not film kissing scenes for their own dramas was an agreement between the then-couple.
Jung Hyun, meanwhile, issued a handwritten apology, where he expressed his regret and apologies for his “Time” co-star Seohyun, director, and its staff.
Though it has been nearly a year since the issue broke out, Ye Ji has decided to personally speak up on what happened through a statement shared by Soompi Sunday.
“Hello, this is Seo Ye Ji. I sincerely apologize for the fact that I’m conveying my feelings so late through these written words. Seeing all of the reproach and the many things that have been said about me, I have been taking time to reflect on myself up until now,” she said.
“I would like to sincerely apologize for making many people uncomfortable due to my shortcomings. Once again, I sincerely bow my head and apologize for the fact that I have disappointed you greatly.”
“All of this stemmed from my immaturity, and I will work hard to behave more carefully in the future and show you a more mature version of myself.”
Shortly after the controversy in 2021, Ye Ji exited the spotlight for a while. She had withdrawn from her supposed drama “Island.” She also did not attend the Baeksang Arts Awards.
Now, she is preparing to return to television screens in the upcoming tvN drama “Eve.” —LBG, GMA News
