Dakota Johnson in talks to portray Madame Web in Sony Marvel universe
Dakota Johnson has reportedly been cast as Madame Web in Sony's first ever standalone female superhero film.
According to a Variety report, the "50 Shades of Grey" actress will join the Sony universe of Marvel characters, marking Sony's first modern comic book adaptation to feature a female in the title role.
Although many are already excited to see this on screen, insiders close to the project say Dakota is yet to close the deal, but she is already in talks to secure the role.
In the comics, Madame Web is key in the interconnected multiverse. She is portrayed as a blind and paralyzed elderly woman who has myasthenia gravis, a "chronic autoimmune disorder requiring her to connect to a life support system resembling a spiderweb."
She is later revealed to be a clairvoyant mutant whose powers become beneficial to Spider-Man.
The upcoming film is set to be directed by "Jessica Jones" director S.J. Clarkson. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
