SHINee’s Taemin to continue military duty as public service worker due to worsening depression, anxiety

SHINee member Taemin was announced to continue his military duty as a public service worker.

According to a Soompi report, SM Entertainment announced on Friday that Taemin was transferred to public service after he showed worsening symptoms of depression and anxiety.

"As of January 14, Taemin has been transferred from the military band to supplementary service," said the group's agency.

"Due to the symptoms of depression and anxiety that Taemin has been suffering from before [his enlistment], he continued to receive treatment and therapy even while carrying out his service," it added.

"However, because his symptoms recently worsened, the military determined that it had become impossible for him to continue his military life and treatment at the same time, and he was accordingly transferred to supplementary service. Therefore, Taemin plans to fulfill his military duty as a public service worker."

According to SM, it will continue to focus on Taemin's treatment and do its best to ensure he "can find stability."

Taemin, the last member of SHINee to enlist, entered the military in May. In the same month, the group celebrated their 13th anniversary– Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
