CL looks back at the moment she found out 2NE1 was disbanding: 'That was very heartbreaking'
It has been about five years since 2NE1 disbanded, but the sting never quite fades.
During a recent interview with AP Entertainment, former member CL looked back at the moment she found out about the disbandment.
The interviewer mentioned that CL's former co-member Minzy had long ago revealed that she found out about the news through media.
"I did too, to be honest," CL said.
"I was at a Thanksgiving dinner, and my phone blew up. But yeah, those situations… That was very heartbreaking for me," she added.
South Korean girl group 2NEI, comprised of CL, Minzy, Dara, and Bom, debuted under YG Entertainment in 2009.
In 2016, it was announced that they were disbanding, months after Minzy's departure from the group.
During the group's hiatus in 2015 prior to the disbandment, CL pursued a solo career with the singles "Hello Bitches" (2015) and "Lifted" (2016).
In 2019, she released her solo EP project "In the Name of Love."
CL just released her debut studio album, "Alpha," in October 2021.
Now that she has thoroughly and successfully established herself as solo artist to look out for, CL expressed excitement over her future.
"Like I said, now I have a lot of freedom and control over at least what I choose to do, so it’s a very exciting chapter for me," she said. —JCB, GMA News
