Justin Bieber urged to cancel Saudi show

Pop star Justin Bieber is receiving growing calls to cancel his upcoming concert in Saudi Arabia.

In an open letter published by the Washington Post, Hatice Cengiz — the fiancee of slain Saudi critic Jamal Khashoggi — asked the singer to cancel his performance at the upcoming Formula One race to be held on December 5 in the Red Sea city of Jiddah.

The Canadian popstar was urged to "send a powerful message to the world that your name and talent will not be used to restore the reputation of a regime that kills its critics.”

It has been a little over three years since Jamal Khashoggi’s brutal murder made headlines across the globe.

The journalist, who was a prominent critic of Saudi policy, was killed in the country's Istanbul consulate on Oct. 2, 2018. His his body was reportedly dismembered and was seen being carried out of the building.

Saudi officials have regularly denied accusations that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was involved in his killing.

According to the Associated Press, other artists expected to perform at the F1 show include A$AP Rocky, DJs David Guetta and Tiesto and Jason Derulo. — LA, GMA News
