How 'Nevertheless' actress Han So Hee landed a role in action-packed revenge series 'My Name'

From making our blood boil in "The World of the Married" to making our hearts ache in "Nevertheless," South Korean actress Han So Hee proves her acting prowess in several genres.

In fact, here she is again, entering a new scene in the action-packed revenge series "My Name."

During a recent press conference for the Netflix show, director Kim Jin Min revealed how the actress landed the intense and combative character.

According to the director, the actors' appearance can at times be their limitation as it can dictate what certain jobs they can take. But Jin Min said this limitation is simply a different term for potential.

"I told her, 'Many people think you are a beautiful actress so you will have many opportunities to play a beautiful role, but this is your really rare chance to jump into a really  physical and harsh role and if you're willing to take part in this project I would be willing to work with you,'" Jin Min said.

"I asked her these questions: Do you want to do it or not and are you going to practice or not. These two are the only questions I asked and So Hee was all into it."

Jin Min shared that So Hee directly told him yes right away and didn't even need to go through a manager to give her answer.

He said, "I told her, 'if you don't practice action so much, then I don't want to work with you on the action series. You are really fit for melodrama. It's not gonna be an easy task but if you practice a lot then i'd love to work with you.' She promised me she would practice a lot and that's what she did. She was all in for the role. She put in effort."

"I want to thank So Hee the most because she put in a lot of effort," Jin Min added.

So Hee also revealed that aside from going to action school, she also practiced months in advance before they shot the series. She also gained 10 kilos of muscle weight just to prepare for her role.

"My Name," to premiere exclusively on Netflix this October 15, revolves around a woman named Ji Woo (Han So Hee) who lost her father at an early age. Bent on seeking vengeance, she gives up her name and her future just to capture her father's killer. She enlists the help of the largest drug cartel's leader and penetrates the police force under a different name. — LA, GMA News
