'The Vampire Diaries' star Nina Dobrev tries her luck in online dating in new Netflix Christmas rom-com film

From being pursued by the Salvatore brothers in "The Vampire Diaries," Nina Dobrev is now on a whole new adventure as she tries to find romance in online dating in the new Netflix Christmas rom-com film "Love Hard."

On Thursday, Netflix released the film's official trailer and showed Nina playing the role of Natalie, a writer based in Los Angeles.

After having a string of bad luck in her dating life, Natalie finds her perfect match on a dating app in the form of Josh.

Taking a leap of faith, Natalie flies to New York to surprise him for Christmas only to find out that she's been catfished.

However, when she finds out the man in the photos sent to her was a real person--just not the person she was talking to--and is Josh's childhood friend, she forces Josh to set her up with him.

Nina is known for her role as Elena in the hit drama series "The Vampire Diaries."

"Love Hard," which also features Jimmy O. Yang and Darren Barnet, is set to premiere on Netflix this November 5. — Kaela Malig/LA, GMA News
