Why is Kim Seon Ho's newest romantic comedy series called "Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha?"
In the series' trailer, viewers get a glimpse of what the title could mean when character Yoon Hye Jin (Shin Min A) asks Hong Du Sik (Seon Ho) if he has a car.
Because "cha" in Korean can mean either tea or car, Du Sik looks at her confused and takes out a thermos from his backpack and offers his tea. Hye Jin then explains she meant car — as in, "cha-cha-cha."
But in a virtual press conference on Tuesday, director Yu Je Won explained there's more to the title that meets the eye.
According to the acclaimed director, the team actually had to vote on title options, and "Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha" came out the winner.
He said he's happy with what they ended up with. "I really like the title we set on because Cha-Cha-Cha is a type of dance you can't do alone and you need other people," the director said.
He added, "It's fitting to the overall story and characters of our drama series."
The director, describes "Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha" as a heart-warming story about a perfectionist city girl who moves to a seaside village and meets a jack-of-all-trades handyman.
Despite the differences they find in one another, they grow fond of each other.
Min A added, "At first they don't like each other at all and that's quite evident but at the same time the audience will feel they are alike in some ways."
The romantic comedy series, which promises squabbles and sweet moments, is set to premiere on Netflix this coming August 28. — LA, GMA News
