AGT Golden Buzzer, Nightbirde, pulls out of competition due to cancer treatment
Jane Marczewski, the singer also known as Nightbirde, has announced that she is dropping off the America's Got Talent competition as her health turned for the worse.
Marczewski, who was given a Golden Buzzer after singing an original song entitled "It's Okay" that moved the AGT judges and the audience, is suffering from cancer.
"Since my audition, my health has taken a turn for the worse and the fight with cancer is demanding all my energy and attention," she said in a social media post.
"I am so sad to announce that I won’t be able to continue forward on this season of AGT. Life doesn’t always give breaks to those that deserve it—but we knew that already."
During her performance, Marczewski revealed that the song was about the past few months of her life. She also revealed that the cancer has spread to her lungs, spine, and liver.
“Absolutely stunning. I totally agree with what Howie said about authenticity. There was something about that song and how you casually told us what you’re going through,” said AGT judge Simon Cowell.
Marczewski then answered, “You can't wait until life isn't hard anymore before you decide to be happy.”
In her social media post, she also said that "Sharing my heart with the world on AGT has been an honor and a dream come true."
"My point of view this summer has been astounding. What a miracle that the pain I’ve walked through can be reworked into beauty that makes people all over the world open their eyes wider."
Marczewski said she expressed her gratitude for the support that she has received and assured that she will be better soon.
"I’m planning my future, not my legacy. Pretty beat up, but I’ve still got dreams," she added. -- BAP, GMA News
